The Fire Prevention Division works to protect the lives and property of residents, businesses, and visitors to the City of Vineland using a combination of preventative inspections and public education. Our team provides efficient, effective, and equitable service with the highest degree of professional integrity.
The Fire Prevention Division conducts regular inspections on all structures, except owner-occupied dwellings, to ensure compliance with the State of New Jersey Fire Code and Vineland Municipal Ordinances. This includes, but is not limited to, the maintenance of fire protection systems, proper egress, accessibility for fire service personnel, handling and use of hazardous materials, and on-site storage practices.
Our office works with the Department of Licenses and Inspections (L&I) to ensure that all newly constructed commercial buildings are designed with the required fire protection and life safety systems. We also work with all City Departments to investigate complaints of hazardous conditions and their abatement.
Finally, the entire Department maintains an active presence in the community at several special events throughout the year to help teach adults and children about fire safety. We offer fire extinguisher training, fire prevention demonstrations, and lectures. We work closely with our schools conducting safety drills and providing input for their safety plans. The Bureau is available to assist the public with whatever fire safety concerns you may have.
The Fire Prevention Office is located next City Hall at the City Hall Annex 625 E. Plum St. Vineland, NJ 08360 The office is open from 8:00 am until 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday; and is closed weekends and holidays.
